High Above Lake Skaneateles
Skaneateles:
n. (skan-ee-at'-las) One of the Finger
Lakes in Central New York. Skaneateles Lake is over 300 feet deep,
16 miles long, and 1 mile wide at its widest point. The water in Skaneateles
Lake is known for its purity and is one source of drinking water for Syracuse,
NY. The name Skaneateles may stem from Native American Iroquois for "Sleepy
Squaw". Although, a gentleman of Mohawk ancestry notes that the name Skaneateles means "Long Lake," which is very fitting!
| The Fesko farm is located 11 miles down the East side of Skaneateles
Lake, just South of the Hamlet of Borodino. Nearby, Chris has a Discovery Center, which is an educational facility located in a restored barn.
Open house events are scheduled at the Discovery Center throughout the summer months for individuals to visit. Field trips and group visits may be arranged by appointment. For directions to the Discovery Center, please select this link.
